Rabbit was the only person in the house who stayed home. He wasn’t impressed by their exodus, and decided to take the opportunity to contact Macon and Pain while the house was quiet.

It hadn’t taken much convincing to get Kathy onboard. The timid doe was unexpectedly excited by the idea of taking a ride. Lacy had taken several rides herself, and she worked Rowan up until he could barely contain his toddler energy, practically vibrating in his seat.

They’d squished all nine people into the stupidly big Tahoe Siren had purchased. Alexi and Satyr had gone back and forth on a vehicle for weeks, and then one morning, they’d woken up with the beast sitting in the driveway. They put Satyr and Siren up front, giving the biggest two the most space. Then Kathy rode in the center bench with Rowan and Lacy.

Alexi put Charlotte in the center of the rear bench, with Gabriel on one side of the baby, and Hector on the other. She then lounged comfortably in Hector’s lap, though there was a severe lack of legroom.

It was easier when they dropped Siren and Gabriel off at the mall to collect the rental. They’d go together to get the witch’s car, after they followed the Tahoe to the airport, so they could take it when they dropped the rental off.

Several sets of eyes belonging to other private aircraft owners followed them as they crossed to their helicopter. Satyr’s sleek, black beast was making a spectacle of itself. Alexi laughed to herself, imagining their confusion when so many children were brought aboard.

She loved watching Rowan and Kathy’s expressions as they boarded the ridiculously luxurious helicopter. It had taken several trips before she’d been able to relax enough to enjoy a flight, so she’d never gotten to experience the joy and excitement so evident on their faces.

Everyone got buckled in, and Alexi lowered the headset over her ears. The cabin was soundproof, so they wouldn’t need the headsets to talk to each other, but she wanted to be able to speak with her guys. The twin engines fired up, and she listened to Hector talk with the control tower, getting clearance for take-off.

Less than a minute after permission was granted, the airbus lifted into the air, and Kathy gave a little squeal of happiness. She leaned toward the window, her eyes more animated than Alexi had ever seen. Lacy kept up a steady stream of chatter, showing Rowan all the little gadgets that opened, like the mini fridge and the satellite phones.

“Watch!” Lacy commanded, hitting buttons until Satyr’s voice came over the speaker.

“If you left something in the car, your Papa Si will make sure it gets home just fine, Lace,” he said patiently, and she laughed, Rowan laughing even harder.

“See! You can talk to my papas whenever you want!” she hung up the phone and started dialing again.

“Lace, stop bothering them,” Alexi scolded gently. Lacy huffed, but adapted easily, turning the conversation back to the mini fridge.

“There’s always juice in here! I’ll show you how to drink it like a Sir.
